PEACE & WHATEVER ~

I’m back with a colorful nail art! Once again, I succumbed to the current trend which is Tie-dye. It was a lil bit difficult to do the swirl but I think that it looks good. The smileys look like they’re going through a hard time but they’re smiling to pretend like everything is ok, such a mood lol.

This nail art is perfect for summer. I was inspired by Nailart_ByGracie on Instagram.

Polishes I used :

OPI : The “IT” Color

L’Oréal : Nymphéa

Essie : Nama-Stay The Night

SUMMER STARS ~

This mani is perfect for the summer days! I feel like stars are becoming one of my fave things to do on my nails. The starry nail art I’m most proud of is definitely this one.

Btw, I’m going back to my regular schedule : 1 post/week. I posted everyday for almost 3 months (quarantine effect!), I’ve never been this active lol. Tbh, I liked to post everyday, it was like a part of my routine but now I don't have enough content to post everyday to I have to go back to my old schedule.

Polishes I used :

L’Oréal : Nymphéa

Maybelline : Sea Sky

Sephora : Lilac Fantasy

STRIPING TAPES BECAUSE IT’S BEEN A WHILE ~

I know it doesn’t look like it but designs using striping tapes can be pretty time consuming lol.

I’m quite happy with how it turned out and the colors look together. Unfortunetly, this pretty nude from OPI is coming to an end. I starts to become sticky. I think that I used a lil too much, it’s my go-to nude polish.

Polishes I used :

OPI : Samoan Sand

Essie : Fifth Avenue

TIE-DYE ~

Tie-dye is definitely on trend right now so I had to do it on my nails. I will probably not incorporate tie-dye in my outfits so I guess the nails are less risky lol.

To do this nail art, I mixed each color with a clear polish to create a glazed finish.

This design wasn’t actually what I wanted to do but I’m happy with what I came up with.

Polishes I used :

Essie : All The Wave

Essie : Mojito Madness

Essie : Muchi, Muchi

OPAL STONES ~

I really like how these turned out! I followed the tutorial BadGirlNails posted on her IGTV and I must say that it was easy to do. I see a lot of opal nails here and there and I always thought that it was the kind of design that would turn shitty if I did it.

Polishes I used :

STRAWBERRY & MINT ~

I can’t handle too many new technique (literally one lol) so I needed to go back to an essential of mine : gradient & patterns.

I did a gradient using pink and mint. Then I did vertical patterns using white polish.

OPI : California Raspberry

Maybelline : Mint For Life

Maybelline : Nebline

PURPLE MARBLE ~

I’m always late on trend lol. Marble nails are around for a while now but it’s my first doing them. I saw the tutorial AmyyTran posted on Instagram and I knew I had to try it. I mean it really seemed easy lol. Usually, I’m not into designs that seem too DIYish for me lol, they always go wrong. I’m quite happy with the final result. I will probably try more marble nail art in the future.

OPI : Funky Dunkey

Essie : Getting Groovy

Maybelline : Clear Shine

FLOWER BOUQUET ~

There are two first times for me in this nail art. Firstly, I’ve never used a color like this before. I really like it! I would describe it as an antique pink. Secondly, it was my first time using a Sephora nail polish since they’ve repackaged all their polishes. And I think they didn’t only repackage them but they’ve probably changed the formula too. I’ve noticed that this polish is thicker than the others I used in the past. Since this polish was a part of a set with other colors, I will see if I note the same thick consistency with them.

Fun (or not, you decide lol) fact : this polish is called “Rose Bouquet” and I’ve picked to do a floral mani without knowing the name. I guess this nail polish was destined for this nail art.

Polishes I used :

Sephora : Rose Bouquet

OPI : Was It All Just a Dream ?

OPI : Pink Ladies Rule The School

BLACK LIVES MATTER ~

As a WOC, a Vietnamese born and raised in France, it’s important for me to voice my support to the Black Community during this time. It means to recognize my privilege before anything all that comes from this -bullshit- model minority which been pinned on our community for many decades. This model minority thing was way for white people to play asians against black people. With that in mind, I have to admit that there are so much situations they face on a daily basis that I will never live. I will never know what it feels like to walk on the street in fear. I will never be followed in a store because I’m suspected of stealing. I will never be ID checked because of the color of my skin. I won’t struggle as much as a black person to get a job or a home. I will never be KILLED because of the color of my skin. I understand that I will never understand. It’s not because it doesn’t happen to you that it doesn’t AT ALL. It’s so sad that it’s still happening in fucking 2020. That’s why we have to be the change we want to see right now.

As an asian, I should also acknowledge the racism against black people that exists within my community. Colorism is still very present in Asia, why ? You name it, racism. Closing my eyes on it would make me a part of the problem.

Once we are aware of that, what do we do ? Listen, educate yourself, be a part of the change. The recent events have been a hurtful awakening for a lot of us. Even though it keeps happening for way too long now in the US, in France and so on. Police brutality, institutionalized racism, white supremacy... all of this is real and needs to stop.

Here’s concrete things you can do right now : donate (if you can), sign petitions, protest, talk about it with family or friends. I know it can be uncomfortable to have these conversations. I’m not good at confrontation and voicing my opinion with a person that I know will be closed to what I have to say.

You can find all the ressources about what you can do for the black community on the Black Lives Matter website.

Black Lives Matter . Black Queer Lives Matter . Black Trans Lives Matter . All Black Lives Matter Always .

And because music is the best language of all, let me share a lil playlist that maybe will make you understand better this situation :

PASTEL RAINBOW ~

For this nail art, I did a rainbow gradient using pastel colors. To spice it up, I tried for the first time the “Kittycorn Magic” kit from Le Mini Macaron. This set contained a chrome powder, a silicon applicator and a top coat (that I didn’t use because I didn’t like it).

The brand describes the powder as “holographic”, I would say that it’s more iridescent than holographic. This was the first time that I used chrome powder and I have to say that at first it wasn’t easy to have an even result. Also, the effect is quite subtle and cool I think.

BOBA TIME ! ~

Here’s my participation to this week Holo Taco competition. The theme is “Tea Time”. I didn’t participate to last week theme which was “Video Games” because the theme didn’t inspire me much. Tbh, I wasn’t really inspired by this week theme either. I’m not a tea drinker so I thought that this theme wasn’t for me but my friend told me to do a boba nail art and I don’t know why I didn’t think of it. I love bubble tea so much. It belongs to these things I missed during lockdown. I always order strawberry bubble tea (you can tell I’m not really a tea drinker).

For this nail art, I used some nail art glitters that my coworker gifted for my birthday last year. I’m not really into glitters for nail art but they are perfect for this nail art! Except for the fact that since I did my nails (this afternoon), 4 glitters already fell off. Kinda annoying not gonna lie lol. I also struggled a little bit at the beginning to do the cup, I didn’t like their shape so I had to redo them multiple times but I think that they turned out ok.

This nail art was inspired by JeeaLee.

RED BOW ~

Here’s a red and purple mix’n’match nail art! You know I can’t resist doing bows on my nails.

I did dots on my pointer fingernail. Then I did stripes and a bow on my ring fingernail. Finally, I applied a red polish and glitter on my middle and pinky fingernails.

This nail art was inspired by NailArtBySig on Instagram.

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH ! ~

I feel like that right now more than ever it’s important to show support to the minorities. It became quite a tradition for me to dedicate a nail art to the LGBTQ+ community during pride month. It’s important for me to show my support. Nail art is my art and my medium so I like to make statement though it.

That’s true that we still have a long way to go for equality but if we stand strong together, we’re gonna make it one day. It’s sad that still in 2020, certain people are so entitled that they feel the right to judge (or worst) someone’s sexual orientation or identity.

During this time, I can’t help but thinking especially about the black gays and trans all around the world for whom things are harder right now.

To the LGBTQ+ community, you will always my support.

SHADES OF RED ~

This nail art is literally the definition of “I was lazy but I tried to do something somehow fancy” mani. Proof that you can do cool nails even when you’re lazy.

So for this nail art (if you can call it like that lol), I applied different shades of red polishes on each of my nails from the darker to the lighter. Then, I put some stars strass near my cuticles.

Polishes I used :

L’Oréal : Rubis Folies

Barry M : Red Black

Barry M : Passion Fruit
