HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR ! CHUC MUNG NAM MOI ! ~
For those who celebrate it, I wish you a happy lunar new year. May this year be good to you and full of happiness, money and success.
Since it’s the year of the rat, I did a cute rat on my ring fingernail but it looks more like a mouse lol. And on the other nails, I did glitter placements like the one I did for the new year manicure
As I said last year, Têt (lunar new year in Vietnam) should remind us that our culture is one of the most important part of ourselves. Sometimes, it can be hard to be proud of this part that makes us different from others. I think that all the asians who grew up in western countries can relate to it. I used to think that people hated me because I was asian. They mock the shape of your eyes, the -supposed- accent of your parents, your culture. The racism against asian is so normalized that people don’t even considerate it as racism and spoiler : this is fucking racism.
Because it’s some “jokes” doesn’t mean it’s normal. People think that racism is motivated only by hatred and spoiler bis : it’s NOT. Ignorance and bullying can also be roots for racism.
For all the asians out there, don’t let people who have no idea what it feels like to be asian in a western country tell you what is and what is not racist.
And for the others, please if an asian person tells you that this remark or joke is racist, just listen to them. If you can’t understand, don’t but just accept that people feel the way they do about certain things they hear. Don’t try to be right at all cost, this is not what’s important. Don’t be the person who says that nowadays we can’t say anything because people are so sensitive or the one who pull the “freedom of speech” card. Please, just don’t. It just invalidates and belittles our feelings. It just normalizes racism against asians even more.
Be the person who listens even if you can’t understand, be the person who uses your privileges to make the unheard ones heard, be the person who can see things through others perspectives, be the person who speaks and not the silent one, be the person who loves asian culture AND defend the interest of asians and understand their issues.
That was a long one. I had a lot on my chest and I think that the lunar new year was the perfect time to evacuate everything. In Vietnam, when the têt comes, everyone clean their houses to welcome the new year. I did the same but with my mind. Few things related to my ethnic background happened to me lately and it just made me realize how we’re in 2020 and people still be in 1950.

WATERMARBLE MORE LIKE WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ? ~
I don’t know why I always do watermarble. I’m obviously not good at it lol. I hate myself everytime I do this technique. Your hands are wet, covered with polish, there is toothpick and tissue everywhere… a fucking mess. All of this to end up with a questionable mani lol.

Bourjois : Lavande Esquisse
Maybelline : Enduring Pink

2020 : GOOD VIBES ONLY ? ~
I thought that to begin this year I should do a positive (cheesy!) nail art. You know I’m that emo girl who thinks that the worst is always yet to come. If I had to define myself, I would say that I’m an optimistic girl expecting the worst.
I tried to be just the optimistic girl for this nail art. I definetely should be THAT girl during the whole year. I mean I already have good things planned like concerts maybe a trip to my homeland so… Yeah positivity! Maybe 2020 will be good, who knows ?
Anyway, happy new year to all of you! I hope this year is filled with everything you want and need. Money ? Get it! Happiness ? Yaaaas! Self-love ? Lizzo said “If I shine everybody’s gonna shine” so 2020 is the year y’all gonna shine!
Choose your fighters :
Smile emoji : happiness
Rainbow : the sun after the rain > positivity, optimism
Good eye : luck
Heart : Self-love

HAPPY NEW YEAR Y’ALL ! ~
This first post of the year is kinda special. Weeks ago, I’ve been contacted by the website Aboxtek.com to test out their new nail lamp. I’m always glad to be collaborate with brand to try products and tell you my (impartial obviously) thoughts on them.
So let’s begin the review, shall we ? What I liked about this nail lamp is that there is 4 preset timer. It means that you can choose between 10s/30s/60s/90s. To be sure that my nails are dried, I always went for the 90s timer. We can never be too sure lol. There is a countdown on the nail lamp, so you always know what time is left until your nails are dried which is really practical ! My favorite thing about this nail lamp is the low heat mode ! I noticed with the other nail lamps that I’ve tested out, it tends to heat a lot after I put the top coat on to the point I can’t put my whole hand in the lamp. I didn’t have this problem with this lamp sooo it’s really a good point.
Overall, this nail lamp is really good. Its features make it really practical and easy to use.
So about the nail art, I did it for the New Year Eve. I love how it festive and sober at the same time. I used “Party Popper” from Ciaté which is a clear polish with holographic flakies. I got it in their 2019 advent calendar. I placed the flakies on all my ring fingernail and near the cuticles the other nails. The way I used the polish makes it looks like I put broken pieces of a disco ball on my nails. I tried to do a similar nail art years ago using real pieces of aluminium, it was a disaster lol. Gel polish was really ideal for this manicure because it makes the glitter last longer.
